Full-Time Family Nurse Practitioner:

EXCELLENT PRACTICE OPPORTUNITY for a full-time family nurse practitioner willing to help care for some of the most vulnerable patients in the Salem, Oregon area.

Liberty Street Clinic is a brand new office under the Mid Valley Independent Physicians Association (MVIPA) umbrella dedicated to serving Oregon Health Plan patients and Medicare patients since December 2009.

Our clinic was established to ensure that all Oregonians have access to high quality care. We are seeking an Oregon licensed family nurse practitioner to join our close knit group. We are currently staffed by a full-time family nurse practitioner and a part-time physician medical director who also sees patients.

We prefer a clinician with a behavioral health background in addition to a desire to take a holistic approach caring for challenging patients with chronic conditions.

Clinician must be comfortable managing patients with chronic pain issues, and mental health issues, to include medical management of both. Outside referral network for counseling has been established.

We serve both adult and pediatric patients. We do not provide OB care, but do perform well-women exams and Pap tests.

Clinic Hours are Monday – Friday from 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.

There is a 1:6 call responsibility with another family practice office. Call lasts one week at a time after hours and on weekends. There is no hospital call.

We are an all electronic records environment and have implemented NextGen EPM and NextGen EMR.

We have an in-house waived lab, EKG and four exam rooms.

Billing Specialist:


Liberty Street Clinic in Salem, Oregon is looking to expand its team by adding a full time Billing Specialist role to its clinic. The Billing Specialist will work in a dynamic new Family Medicine clinic dedicated to serving some of the most vulnerable patients in the community. We have 3 providers and a patient panel of about 1,000.

Responsibilities include coding review and periodic audits, charge entry, payment posting, denials management, unpaid claims follow-up, insurance verification and month-end processing.

Required skills are 2 or more years of direct hands-on experience in healthcare business operations in an ambulatory setting with emphasis on claims/billing and experience with ICD-9 and CPT Coding. Preferred skills include professional coding certification and an accounting or bookkeeping background.

TITLE: Medical Billing Specialist

SUPERVISOR: Clinic Administrator

DEPARTMENT: MVIPA Medical Management, LLC/Liberty Street Clinic

The Billing Specialist will perform all aspects of managing accounts receivable. Responsibilities will include coding review and periodic audits, charge entry, payment posting, denials management, unpaid claims follow-up, insurance verification and month-end processing.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Verify new patient insurance coverage, deductibles and co-pays (pre-registration)
  • Create electronic claims files and send in accordance with office standards. Monitor claims via claims clearinghouse to ensure timely submission and response to failed claims
  • Post payments both electronically and manually as required.
  • Make deposits to bank accounts.
  • Manage denied claims by ensuring timely resolution, including appeals, resubmissions in accordance with office policies.
  • Review reimbursement from all payers to ensure payment through proper use of codes and established allowable fees.
  • Maintain required records, reports and files. Post all actions taken regarding patient’s account into computer system as permanent record.
  • Make adjustments to patients and customer accounts following organizational procedures. Arrange for appeals of denied services or arranges for proper billing of these services.
  • Initiate transfers and corrections to patient accounts in accordance with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Performs collection actions including contacting patients by telephone and resubmitting claims to third party reimburses.
  • Participates with Patient Accounts Coordinator to follow up on accounts with a balance until paid in full or turned over for collection.
  • Monitor private pay patient accounts (loan accounts) for delinquent payments.
  • Main contact for patients regarding questions about their accounts.
  • Stays current with changes in reimbursement regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Experience:

  • Two or more years of direct hands-on experience in healthcare business operations in an ambulatory setting with emphasis on claims/billing required.
  • Experience with ICD-9 and CPT Coding required; Coding Certification preferred.
  • Experience with NextGen® EPM highly desirable
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with business and clinical staff.
  • Excellent customer service skills for patients.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of workflow, billing rules, insurance and Medicare Compliance.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Oregon Health Plan billing rules.
  • Proficient in multiple software tools including Microsoft Office Suite, and basic telecommunications technology required.
